Quick patterns
With Photoshop 7 making patterns for your backgrounds has never been that easy.

From any image or layer choose >Filter>Pattern Maker (Alt+Shift+Ctrl+x)

Drag a rectangular marquee on the area you would like to use to generate your pattern.

Click on "Generate" and Photoshop will create a pattern based on your selection.
- You can repeat this as often as you'd like, until you get the "perfect" pattern.
- You can modify the size of your pattern, the smoothness and the level of details your pattern will have.
- If you are not happy with your selection, hold down the "Alt" key and the Cancel button will change to "reset".

Once you have made your choice hit the "save preset patterns" to save your pattern. (you can save as many as you want)

Back in Photoshop you'll be able to use the newly created pattern with the "fill" option or the paint bucket .

*** If you don't have PS7, you can do this using the good old "offset" trick.
