Plaid Patterns

1. Download the Plaid PSD Template.
You can change the resolution.
2.
Guides have been placed to mark the half and quaters of the
square. CTRL+H to View/Hide the Guides.

| 3.
Fill the first Layer with a base color.
4.
Create a new Layer.
5.
Create the first colored stripe and make sure it is centered
(CTRL+A, CTRL+X, CTRL+V).
6.
Change the Layer Mode to Multiply and reduce
the Opcaity to taste.

Duplicate this layer and Rotate
it by 90°.
7.
Merge the two Stripes Layers. |

| 8.
Use the >Filter>Others>Offset to create
an seamless external stripe.
This
template is a 720 pixels square therefor using a 360 (half of
720) will move your stripe exactly halfway on your square.
Using 180 (one quarter) will move your stripe by 1/4.

| 9.
Use different width and colors to create new stripes. (Remember
to set the layer mode to Multiply and reduce the opacity)

| At
this point you can either save the file as a jpg for the web or
create a pattern to use in Photoshop. |
To
Save the pattern:
1. Flatten the image.
2. >Edit>Define Pattern
3. Name it and Click "OK" |

To
use the pattern:
1. On a new Layer or Selection, go to >Edit>Fill
2. Change "Contents>Use" to "Pattern"
3. Click the "Custom Pattern" drop-down menu to select
your pattern.
4. Click ok |
