Reflections
Here's a different tutorial: Look at the first image and try to decompose what each layer could be? What would you do to create a reflection.

How would you create something like this? Assuming your dog had been extracted first.

1. Start by creating a copy the dog, and use >Edit>Transform>Flip Vertical.
2. Using "Free Transform" (CTRL+T) you could squeeze it's height, create a perspective and move it around... (There is no perfect solution, as the angle of the desired reflection will have a big impact on the final shape.
3. Now reduce the brightness and apply a Gaussian Blur.

4. It would be nice if the "reflection" would fade away... How would you do that? There is several options... you could a) create a 'Mask' to do the Fade Out. b) Use a Heavily Feathered shape to erase the lower part of the reflection. c) Add a White to Transparent gradient above the reflection.
You might also reduce the opacity of the layer to get the desired effect.
.

5. What's missing here? it would be nice to add a shadow under this cute little dog. On a separate layer, simply draw a black line and use a Gaussian Blur.
What could you do to the reflection to make it look like the reflection is in the water? (HINT: Try a Filter)
This trick can also be used to enhance your Landscape photos.
