Soft Focus Filters

Many, many, many options are available to recreate this in Photoshop.

Open your image

After doing the soft focus effect you can delete the "in-focus" areas using a soft-edge eraser or run the unsharpen mask filter to regain some of the sharpeness.

Option 1

1. Duplicate your image.

2. >Filter>Gaussian Blur.

3. Fade the Layer Opacity (?) to taste.

Option 2

1. Duplicate your image.

2. >Filter>Gaussian Blur.

3. Change the Layer mode to Overlay.

4. Fade the Layer Opacity (?) to taste.

Option 3

1. Duplicate your image.

2. >Filter>Gaussian Blur.

3. Desaturate the blured layer.

4. Change the Layer mode to Lighten.

5. Fade the Layer Opacity (?) to taste.

you might want to fine tune the Hue/Saturation after mergin the two layers.

Option 4

1. Duplicate your image.

2. >Filter>Gaussian Blur.

3. Change the Layer mode to Darken.

4. Duplicate the "darkened" Layer.

5. >Filter>Gaussian Blur.

6. Change the Layer mode to Lighten.

Option 5

1. Duplicate your image.

2. >Filter>Gaussian Blur.

3. Change the Layer mode to Soft Light.

4. Fade the Layer Opacity (?) to taste.

Option 6

1. Duplicate your image.

2. >Filter>Gaussian Blur.

3. Hit "D" to reset your Foreground and background colors.

4. >Filter>Distort>Diffuse.

5. Fade the Layer Opacity (?)to taste.

1. Use the Glamour Trick.

Option 8

1. Use SoftFocus Filter.
